Join CMA staff on an all-day hands-on scientific observation and collection trip to Catalina Island. “Catalina Above And Below” is one of the Aquarium’s most popular boat trips.
Throughout the trip, staff will be on the lookout for marine birds, dolphins, whales, sea lions, seals and wide variety of other marine animals. Learn about methods and techniques used to capture marine animals such as swell sharks, moray eels, lobsters, and the rarely seen, very slimy hagfish.
Passengers will assist with pulling in traps and get up-close looks at animals, while CMA staff and experts will be on-hand to identify, teach and answer questions. Explore the seldom-visited isthmus of the island, then head out to mid-channel to bait for pelagic sharks. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
