Plastic Soup Educators Workshop

Plastic Soup with Algalita Marine Research Institute
Much of the plastic trash we generate on land flows into our ocean through watersheds and storm drains. What happens when plastics enter the ocean? Join us to learn about the science behind this issue through a hands-on activity that brings real-world science into the classroom and encourages students to develop the same observational skills scientists use to further understand the health of our oceans.

The workshop will include a presentation that covers the basic science behind plastic marine debris, and hands-on investigations into plastics in the marine food web. In addition, all registered participants will be given a FREE Algalita Debris Science Investigation Kit that includes everything you need to help your students understand the impacts of plastic marine debris within one 50-minute class period!

This workshop is sponsored with a grant from Boeing and is free of charge.
