Shark Week returns to CMA and features special shark crafts and activities each day!

Daily Activities (12noon to 4pm)

Exploration Center
Check-out amazing Shark specimens like real shark skin, shark teeth and shark egg cases. Plus - you can create your very own shark egg case!

Marine Research Library
Visit the library to read-up on all things sharks with our special Shark Week book display. Check-out our shark videos playing through-out Shark Week, like Discovery Channel shark programs or “The Octonauts” episodes on great white sharks and whale sharks, and even test your knowledge with some Shark Week word puzzles!

Are you up for a challenge? Stop by the Information booth and pick up one of our Shark Fact Scavenger Hunts. Complete the scavenger Hunt and receive a cool Shark Week surprise!

Aquarium Courtyard
Enjoy exciting Shark Week coloring activities or even make your very own Shark Week “Whirly Gig!”


Other Exciting Shark Week Activities

Sunday, August 2 to Saturday, August 8
3pm in the John M. Olguin Auditorium - “Surviving Sharks.” An exciting and informational movie about the different sharks that live in our oceans and how humans are impacting their population and environments. (15 minute movie)

Sunday, August 2 & Saturday, August 8
12noon to 4pm in the Aquarium’s Courtyard - Stop by the Natural History Museum’s booth and check out all the cool shark stuff they have brought to share from their museum collections.

Wednesday, August 5 & Saturday, August 8
2pm in the Exhibit Hall’s Shark Room - Shark Feeding and Talk with a Cabrillo Marine Aquarium Animal Caretaker.

Tuesday, August 4 & Wednesday, August 5
1pm in the Aquarium’s Courtyard - Scientific Shark Dissection and Shark Specimen Display by Cabrillo Marine Aquarium Collections Department.

Saturday, August 8
6pm & 8pm in the John M. Olguin Auditorium - Free Movie Night being presented by the FRIENDS of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Join us at 6pm for a fun, family movie night where we will be showing the animated film, “Shark Tale” (PG rating).

Then at 8pm, in celebration of its 40th anniversary, we will be showing “JAWS” (PG-13 rating). Both movies will be preceded by a 15 minute informational movie on shark conservation. The 8pm movie will be held in our outdoor courtyard, so be sure to bring your blankets and chairs to sit on. Bench Seating is available, but is on a first come basis.
