Plastic Ocean: Lecture by Captain Charles Moore

Saturday, March 24, 2012
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium invites you to meet Captain Charles Moore, founder of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation and author of Plastic Ocean.

Captain Moore will share about his voyages out to sea, his discovery of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, his hard-won scientific credibility and his dogged, game-changing efforts to get the world to pay attention to a looming plastic peril.

Captain Moore is one of the main drivers of our awareness of plastic pollution. His book, Plastic Ocean reminds readers that the cleanliness of our water is of utmost importance to our survival, the survival of other species both animal and plant on this planet and inspires a fundamental rethinking of what ultimately happens to the plastic bag or bottle that gets thrown away.

Following the lecture, Captain Moore will be available to sign his book, Plastic Ocean in the FRIENDS of CMA Gift Shop, where the book is available for purchase.

This is a FREE lecture and will be held in the John M. Olguin Auditorium, but space is limited. Call the Aquarium to reserve your seats today at 310-548-7562.
