Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

Teacher Workshop: Ichthyology and Beach Survey

Saturday, February 9, 2013
11:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Learn about the amazing diversity, adaptations and feeding strategies of the fishes of Southern California through a presentation and hands-on classroom activities. We will explore external and internal fish anatomy through observation and dissection.

Participants will experience first hand working with some of our local fish species by assisting in a field research survey led by Cabrillo Marine Aquarium's Exhibits and Collections Curator, Dr. Julianne Passarelli. The survey is designed to monitor the abundance and diversity of the invertebrates and fishes living offshore in the eelgrass beds of Inner Cabrillo Beach. You will get wet and sandy, but you'll have lots of fun!

This workshop is a LAUSD pre-approved professional development opportunity for salary point credit.
