In 1935 a small collection of local seashells collected by L.A. City Lifeguards was moved from a card table on Venice Beach to the newly opened Cabrillo Beach Bathhouse and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium was born.
Now, 75 years later with a new name and having touched the lives of millions of visitors, the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium continues to be internationally recognized as a leader in providing friendly and accessible seashore programs and facilities for understanding and improving our relationship with the marine environment.
Starting in January and throughout 2010, we will share our celebration of 75 years of achievements. We hope you will join us as we enjoy the sparkle of the diamond that is the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. Please visit our 75th Anniversary page.
