Ocean Outreach

    Join Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s team of enthusiastic Ocean Outreach educators to learn about some extraordinary animals that live in the ocean!

We can even bring live marine animals to your school!

Our programs enhance the educational experience through the use of hands-on discovery, specimen investigation, science inquiry & student participation. All our programs are tailored to grade-level & designed to spark your students’ curiosity for the ocean & the extraordinary life in it!

Details:
  • Days offered: Tuesday - Friday
  • Dates offered: January - December
  • Length of program: One hour; up to four programs / three topics per site per day
  • Times offered: between 9:30am and 4:00pm
  • Maximum Participation Limit (per session): 30 students*
  • Fee**: $170 for the first program, $70 for each similar program at same site on same day. After-school programs (after 2:30pm): First program $230, second program $90.

Thar She Blows! Whale of a Lesson


Program Length: One hour; up to four programs per site per day

Description:


Let’s take an unforgettable journey with the gentle giants of the sea and investigate what makes whales so unique. Your young marine biologists will participate in a whale breathing experiment, listen to whale sounds, view a slide show and watch as a student is transformed into a Pacific Gray Whale!

All our programs are tailored to grade-level and designed to spark your student’s curiosity for the ocean and the extraordinary life in it!



Programs are adaptable to grade-specific Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
