Whale of a Workshop

Join Cabrillo Marine Aquarium Education Team for a Virtual Educator's Workshop.

+ Learn about the biology, behavior and biodiversity of our local cetaceans, including the amazing gray whale!

+ Practice integrating whales into your virtual classroom!

+ Hone your skills of observation while collecting data about the world around you!

This year's Whale of A Workshop will be split into two parts (each 1.5 hours).

Part 1:
This virtual session will include a whale of a presentation, as well as some fun on-screen activities!

Please choose one date to attend:
Fri, Feb 26th, 3:30 - 5:00pm
or
Sat, Feb 27th, 9:00 - 10:30am

Part 2:
This component will take place in the "field" and can be done by attending or trying out one of the following activities:

Option 1: A virtual whale watch (scheduled in early March)
Option 2: Your own iNaturalist excursion (using the app)
Option 3: An offline observation centered activity

To complete the workshop, participants will be asked to choose one of these options to do, as well as include a short one page writeup about your experience.

A couple last notes:
* Access to a PADLET full of wonderful whale resources will be provided.
* LAUSD P.D. credit will be available upon completion.
* This is a free workshop but registration is required.
