Join us for Coastal Cleanup Day! Enjoy the beach while helping the environment by picking up trash.
Participants will meet on outer Cabrillo Beach at 9 am. Aquarium staff will provide bags and instructions. In the spirit of keeping the event close to "zero waste," we ask volunteers to bring their own reusable buckets, bags, pillowcases - all of which are great *reusable* makeshift trash collection receptacles! -gloves and water bottle if possible.
Keep track of the trash you pick up and add your data to a global database to help scientists follow trends in marine and coastal debris! Download and use the Clean Swell app from the Ocean Conservancy: Click here. Then log in to Group Name "CMA Beach Cleanup".
Safety waivers are required: You can read the waiver here, or read a printed version on site, then sign our log book in acknowledgement.
We are hosting this event in collaboration with the California Coastal Commission. Every U.S. state and more than 100 countries participate in the cleanup.
