Important Update regarding Coronavirus
With the recent news and uncertainty of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (CMA) would like to inform you of the precautionary steps it is taking to keep everyone safe. First and foremost, the health and safety of our guests and employees is our top priority. In following the Mayor Eric Garcetti’s directive CMA will be closed to the public until further notice effective Friday, March 13, 2020.
● The City of Los Angeles is working with local health agencies, including the County Department of Public Health (DPH) and the County Office of Emergency Management for updates and guidance
● To keep residents informed the City has created a website that will be updated with the latest developments regarding what the city is doing and suggestions on what you can do to keep healthy and safe. For more information please visit https://corona-virus.la/
● CMA facility maintenance staff will be using (virus-killing) bacteria-killing disinfectants and will conduct enhanced cleaning throughout the aquarium, with special emphasis on “high touch” areas like handrails, restrooms and doors
● CMA will deploy additional hand washing stations, modify some exhibits and consistently clean microscopes and other equipment used by our students, guests and staff
We encourage everyone to continue to use healthy hygiene practices by washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, and stay home if you are sick.
The City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks, CMA will adjust our protocols as the situation warrants and we will do our best to keep everyone informed.
