Through the Science at the Seashore program, we are able to offer individuals and families many opportunities to learn about our marine environment through guided tours, art and storytelling and extended workshops.

Upcoming Science at the Seashore Events
Animal Identification and Nature Journaling
Join CMA education staff as we learn how to identify common sandy beach animals, whales, birds and more!
Practice tips and techniques for nature journaling with animals that we find.
All materials will be provided, including a upcycled/recycled nature journal you can keep. Materials will be shared; you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer (such as pencils, colored pencils, watercolor paints and brushes)

- Registration is not required.
- There is no fee for this activity.
- Meet in the Lower Courtyard; participants are welcome to
join anytime throughout the experience.

Salt Marsh Open House
Join CMA Educators to learn about the Salinas de San Pedro wetlands habitat at Cabrillo Beach by using binoculars and microscopes to observe live animals. Visitors can view the birds of the marsh, learn about native plants and observe the changes in the tides.
Fee: FREE; open to all ages.

SEA Club - Science Education Afternoons
2nd-3rd Grade
SEA Club is a four week program (Wednesdays, October 4, 11, 18 & 25) where students can join CMA Education staff on afternoon marine science adventures and discover sea life through experiments, exploration and fun.
All classes start and end at the Aquarium but our adventures often take us outdoors to explore the Coastal Park.
SEA Club is the perfect after-school class for your budding scientist!
Space is limited to 15 students, and pre-registration is required: 310-548-7562. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated.
FEE: $30 ($27 for Friends); includes a SEA Club T-shirt.

Walk Cabrillo
Pack a snack and join a walk guided by CMA's Education staff.
During the coastal park walk you'll visit the native garden, salt marsh, beaches and tidepools. Explore each habitat and discover signs of the season along the shore. Examine fossils, native plants and beach wrack.
Meet in front of the Aquarium. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and water.
Fee: FREE; open to all ages.
